Eng 11 Essay

Attached are the questions for your essay due next Friday (Dec 7th). Please choose a topic and begin your outline. See me in the Great Hall (preferably) or the Library for help this week. To class next week, bring your completed outline and if you’ve started a rough copy, bring that too! We will have class time to work on it. I want to sit down with everyone prior to handing in the Good Copy Dec 7th. Remember that it the cut-off date for report cards!

Hi! I forgot to remind you to hand in your work on Shin-Chi’s Canoe and Shi-Shi-etko. HAND IN BEFORE THURSDAY!

Eng 12: OMAM Ch 1&2

Ideas to think about in Chapters 1-4:

Steinbeck explores certain issues in his novel including

  • power versus powerlessness (Ch 1&2 for sure!)
  • the individual versus the community
  • loneliness
  • racism, and discrimination.

Begin making notes on the following issues mentioned in the first 4 chapters of the novel. You will have an opportunity to add to this as we continue to read the novel. These ideas can be used for your dialectical journal (To be discussed soon!).

Homework: After considering the above, complete the Chart about Curley’s Wife (see me for more detail if necessary. Read Chapter 3 for next class.
